In order to gain access to politicians, the United Faculty of Florida makes campaign contributions to politicians who have and continue to support higher education, educators and scholars in Florida. However, union dues money does not go towards campaign contributions, so the UFF Political Action Committee (UFF-PAC) relies on donations.

We anticipate a very difficult legislative session beginning January 10, 2012. There is again a huge budget shortfall and the same bills targeting faculty in higher education will be back!

You can help the fight by donating in one or both of the following ways:

1) Donate $1 per paycheck by setting up an automatic payroll deduction. Just download this PAC payroll deduction form, complete it and send to Sherry Sippel at DM, FUSA Treasurer

2) Write a personal check NOW to UFF-PAC in any amount from $5 to $100 ... more if you can. Mail it immediately to

Dear UFF Chapter Presidents

This year the legislative session will begin on January 10th. The bad bills from the last session will be back ... plus higher ed reform ... Texas style.

We are working to build opposition to these bad bills, but we cannot do it without your help. If you want to fight against the following, then we must have your help:
1. Texas style Higher Ed reform,
2. Higher pension contributions,
3. Lower healthcare benefits at a higher cost,
4. A ban on payroll dues deductions for unions, and
5. Automatic decertification for any union with less than fifty percent membership.

UFF needs ammunition to fight for your members in Tallahassee.

UFF-PAC is the ammunition budget. UFF-PAC needs to raise $40,000 by December 1, 2011 to support those legislators who support higher education and their employees in Florida. We need to demonstrate our support for them with UFF-PAC contributions.
